The Parish Council is one of the statuatory consultees that Mendip District Council advises and takes comments from when determining planning applications.
The Parish Council has 21 days from being notified to make their response to Mendip District Council, an application is always considered at either a full parish council meeting or a special meeting called specifically to deal with planning applications. The Parish Council makes a recommendation and can add comments, but are just one of a number of statuatory consultees in the planning process. Individuals, business and organisations can also make comments, either in writing or online. It is important that comments are made before the consultaion period ends (after 21 days).
